A Card Company named CardJester selling Cards Online?

I am thinking of setting up an online company selling Greeting Cards and realised that I had competition in the way of moonpig.com, hallmark etc

Reading Yahoo answers there is another entering the market named CardJester

Do you think I should alter my card ranges or try a new business idea? I have done a lot of research into cards and wholesalers so starting a new business now would be time consuming

A Card Company named CardJester selling Cards Online?
If you have done your research, it must have taken into account the competition including the future threat possibilities too. We call this as SWOT analysis which stands for

1 Your Strength

2 Your Weaknesses

3 Your Opportunities

4 Your Future Threats

Try to research the competitors' weaknesses which can be your strengths. If I am right, cardjester.com can't be as big a threat to to you as Hallmark can be, so to speak.

You were, as it appeared to me, only steps away from making investments, so you shouldn't backout now supposing what you would have done if this situation were to arise soon after getting started. Good Luck

Opening a simple online store?

I've been selling things on ebay for a while now but, as my items are cheap, the fees are cutting into my profits too much. I have quite a few regulars so am thinking about opening a simple online shop they can buy from instead.

The problem is I don't know how to use html and I don't want to spend too much money.

Can anyone tell me what I should do? I really don't know where to start.

Do I need to register as a business?

Opening a simple online store?
Well, starting a simple online store is quite easy now

a days. There are few good free shopping carts available

to use. Currently, Im in a web hosting business (www.siterepublic.net) and i too are selling my business online.

First you need to have a domain name for your business.

like www.yourdomain.com. Second have your site

hosted on a web server. Third, have your design done

and Finally, If you are residing over US you can apply

for a merchant account using paypal.

Paypal do have a solution that does not need to much

technicalities when setting up your online store.

Hope this would help
Reply:Good idea. Sell direct over the phone or e-mail to those special customers. E-mail and fax are cheep.
Reply:You can build your own website by using website editors

and not incur a lot of expense.

Have a look at the site below for free website editor reviews and free internet marketing guide downloads.
Reply:You could hire someone to do HTML to make your website (just pay them and tell them what you would like). Or on ebay you can make companies. You know how to use ebay, so you should be able to do it. Just come up with a company name and set Buy It Now prices and Delivery fees. Advertise your company and you should earn a profit.

If you need a break from ebay start a website (pay 10 - 30 pound every month/6months/year) and then put details and your prices on.

Should I start my own business?

I've been cutting hair for 12 years. It was kind of a gift! I just picked it up....and have built quite a clientel. I never went to barber college...despite what others have suggested...just didn't want to wait that long. Plus I'm also a minister and want to go to seminary.

Long story short...I recently lost my job! This makes the 3rd one this year...and I can't seem to keep a job (no more than a few months...even when I do things right!) I'm starting to believe that God may have a desire for me to use this natural gifting of cutting hair. I had a dream about opening a shop...but just going to school is the deterent, plus I wanted to go to seminary...but recently I found online seminary courses and for my 30th birthday my wife bought me a set of hair clippers. I'm starting to think either now or never! I can learn what's necessary to do this business legally and make a lot of money doing it....or I can be bootleg cutting my friends hair on the porch of my apartment for free!

Should I start my own business?
It Sounds like you already have part of the answer. Do your Seminary training on line and the next step is to "just do it." Get professionally trained (which is a relatively short time) so that you can excel at your obvious gift. Just think how far you could go by being licensed and making the professional connections while in school which will undoubtedly further your career. It seems that you have found your passions in life, Most people never discover their true gifts. Now all you have to do is act on it and make a commitment and put the fear aside. Until you make a concerted effort toward what you really want to do, your life will continue to go in circles and you'll continue to feel unfulfilled and incomplete. Believe me I know from experience. Time goes by all too quickly.
Reply:go for it!!!!!!!
Reply:yes, you should.
Reply:I would say get licensed to cut hair....then.....Go to seminary good Luck!!!
Reply:Get your barbers liscense.
Reply:yes! and i do your publisity
Reply:yes u can but take advise b4 starting ur own business
Reply:yes you should.

Is there a way a banks online banking can save pending transactions until they actually post?

I use online banking to watch my checking account. Most of my purchases are made with my debit card any others would be made with checks that I have carbon copies of. I depend on online banking to keep up with my balance and activity.

Back to the question at hand....

My bank has a pending section that shows all your debits that have not yet posted to the account. For example, one day there will be a transaction pending (one that has not yet posted to the account) and the next day it will be gone and also not in your posted transactions. The bank says if the business where you spent this money does not send in the claim right away it will not stay in the pending section. Isn't there some way to just keep it in pending transactions until the claim comes and posts? Thus, keeping your balance in a constant updated state.

Is there a way a banks online banking can save pending transactions until they actually post?
It would be nice if banks made a way for us to customize how our transactions are displayed. I worked in customer service for a bank and have spoken with customers who, like yourself, wanted their transactions to display differently. Only the bank I worked at let the pending items show for up to three weeks, even if the customer immediately canceled the purchase. So, in our case, the pending items took too long to drop off. Using online records of activity can be such a hassle that, anymore, I save all of my receipts and immediately record everything in a ledger of my own that I have created. It takes extra time unfortunately, but I know to the penny how much money I have in my checking account regardless of what is pending online.
Reply:I definitely know where you're coming from with this. I was in banking for over 6 years and have dealt with every problem under the sun! I understand what your bank has told you - if the vendor doesn't process the transaction in a timely manner it won't show up as "pending" after a certain period of time. Now, as for your question - is there some way they can keep your pending transactions somewhere? Of course! Unfortunately the software/system your bank utilizes doesn't show it and this translates into the responsibility falling on you to keep an accurate balance. Anything's possible if it's set up that way but unfortunately for you, the customer, it's more of a confusion. Sounds like their online banking is not very user-friendly...

Avoid "BrandsonSale"!! Terrible online retailer w/ no customer service. Has anyone gotten through to them?

They sent me the wrong Princess Leia Halloween costume for my daughter and after many attempts to contact them they told me I was the one who was mistaken. I feel like they stole my money!!! I have never had trouble with online ordering before and do it all the time. After I had so much difficulty with them I searched on Yahoo and see they have a very bad reputation for just this sort of thing. Has anyone been able to get them to practice honest business?

Avoid "BrandsonSale"!! Terrible online retailer w/ no customer service. Has anyone gotten through to them?
are they on EBAY or do they have a web site?

I would like to have my own business selling gift items?

Would like to start a home business selling gift items, but through catalog and mail order only. I don't want an online store. I cant't find any affiliate stores that will send me catalogs for people to look through and order from, or any wholesalers that will do that.

Any Ideas?

I would like to have my own business selling gift items?
I have been researching website hosts and I have noticed some of them have the "catalog" option. I am not certain what that means, but it may be worth checking out.

Also, I recall reading that Lillian Vernon started its catalog business by selling one item (a purse) in the back of a women's magazine, in the classified section. That might be something to consider - - select one item, or maybe a few of them, and put them in the back of magazines that it may relate to, or if you have a free local newspaper, check about putting ads in there. Once you get the ball rolling and build up some business, you may be able to add more products, and then produce your own catalog.

Best of luck to you!

How do I get a business license??

I am working on getting my freelance graphic design business started, but I have no idea where to start with the "legal" stuff. How do I get a license? About how much would one cost? I've been researching online, but I am still lost. Any websites? something??? Please help.

How do I get a business license??
Go to City Hall. I'm not sure which department, but somebody there would be able to help you get appropriate paperwork completed to apply for the license.
Reply:I started a biz. It depends on which state you operate out of. Each state is different. Texas required that I register with the state (i.e. a unique business name and number) and that I register with the federal government and get an EIN (Employer identification number). It cost me $400 (limited partnership) for Texas and free to get an EIN. Also depends on the type of biz you register.
Reply:use the state your in and then dot gov should put on the right track for the internet.

Anyone know the best online pharmacy?

Im looking for an online pharmacy that has its own doctor who prescribes medication. Please answer only if you've done successful business with the pharmacy.

Anyone know the best online pharmacy?
looking for penis pills?
Reply:i don't think pharmacies, like the type that you are looking for, are legal. there is no way that a doctor would be able to diagnose you with anything over the Internet. and they certainly would not be able to prescribe meds.
Reply:I ordered some meds from Australia and they were fine. It was a ligitimate pharmacy and I paid by credit card - it was tons cheaper than the US

My neighbor orders his meds from Canada
Reply:Shopper's.

Can we opt out of the Natwest Bank online banking card reader system?

The whole thing -- Card, Card reader, Card PIN -- on top of the existing pin numbers and login details now makes the online banking system with NatWest a painful experience. I have accounts in 3 countries, including a small business account at NATWEST and a personal account at another UK bank that has decided NOT to use the card reader %26amp; pin system. None of the other banks whether in the UK, US or France require anywhere NEAR the hassle that this new system requires in order to pay bills. Just to amend a payee (for example to include the new invoice number rather than the one from last time), you have to use the card reader system. Since I travel abroad quite frequently, and do all our banking via the online system, carrying around an easy to lose card reader and yet another (easy to lose) card makes banking with NatWest a lot less attractive. We've spoken with our banker who says they've had a fair number of complaints, and we are now looking at switching our account. Anyone else?

Can we opt out of the Natwest Bank online banking card reader system?
simple change bank so yes

regards x kitti x
Reply:I don't think you can opt out. I have also complained about this so I hope they sort themselves out soon.
Reply:Tell me about it!

I log onto my internet banking from different offices and also whilst working from home.

I have to carry the bloody stupid card and card reader about with me to and from home and from office to office.
Reply:yes you acn but remember you will not be allowed to view your online banking if you are overseas whichever bank you change to

Are there any online universities that people don't scoff at?

What's the best online university in your opinion? Why? Will choose the answer with the best/most info. Need your help! (thinking of a bachelors in international business, possibly with a certificate in a foreign language to compliment. Ideas?)

Are there any online universities that people don't scoff at?
Are you in the UK? The University of London offers an extensive series of degrees via their External Programme, and you'd find international business under SOAS, which is extremely well reputed, and also under Royal Holloway. And U of London doesn't have that "distance" rep of the Open University. In addition, your diploma won't say "online" or anything like that, and you're considered a full alumnus of SOAS, if that's where you decide to go.

I'd really have you look at SOAS is one of the top 10 universities in the UK, and the top 30 or so in Europe. They are famous for their international-focused programs, and they offer your major specifically. They also offer an extensive series of language classes, although I'm not sure if you can do any of them online.

Royal Holloway does offer a major in international business, and they do offer some languages online, but not a lot. The basics: French, German, etc.

Check the website I've linked to, below, for details.

If you're in the US, as in the case with U of L in the UK, it's best if you select an online program that's attached to a reputable brick and mortar university - one that doesn't have a rep as "OMG Online!" So, for your field, I can recommend you look at UMass Amherst, U Maryland, Penn State, U Nebraska, University of Illinois, Carnegie Mellon and others. The ones I listed are strong, reputable universities in the US that also offer business (and some offer international business) degrees online.

In any case, you can help eliminate that "online" scoffing that some employers tend to do (rightly or wrongly) by avoiding universities that are famous as online universities. So no U of Phoenix, and despite the fact that it actually is of decent quality, no Open University. Stick to brick and mortar schools, which also offer online programs.
Reply:The Open University in the UK is done mainly by mail but I imagine they are also using the internet now. They were quick to make use of TV and other multimedia resources. It has an excellent reputation. Their MBAs in particular are of exceedingly high standard (which is why they are expensive to study). You can get credits towards your degree from any previous qualifications or experience you have, which may reduce the length of time you need to study and also the cost.
Reply:There are several mainstream schools (as in not 'mail-order degrees) that now offer 'distance learning' courses, particularly in the Business Administration sector, and that are fully recognised. Instead of listing all these institutions, I recommend you pick up a copy of The Economist which is full of detailed classifieds regarding these programs.
Reply:i am seeking a business administration degree with a concentration in international business. I have checked out aiu online and ctu online. if you have military experience they will both give you a discount. i'm not sure about the foreign language concentration though, good luck jack.

Is a JD from an online law school in California worthwhile?

I am thinkng of becoming an attorney down the road, but don't have the time for the traditional brick and mortar class room, not to mention the 100k tuition while trying to make ends meet. But I would really rather spend my golden years as an attorney/consultant than a greeter at Wal-Mart. And at 30 years of age, I might be planning too far ahead, but I am at a stage in life trying to decide between either getting a masters degree in taxation or go with the online law degree to eventually get a JD and practice in California. I'll mainly be considering business law and family law consultation, no court room drama litigation stuff.

Is a JD from an online law school in California worthwhile?
Hi,

If you are really set on law school, be sure to do some research. Most students that attend online or CA only approved law schools go into private practice. Most larger %26amp; more prestigious firms require a degree from an ABA approved law school. Also, bar exam pass rates are pretty low for online and CA only approved schools. However, if you are looking to save money and are interested in a solo practice (be sure to think about malpractice insurance- expensive!), this may be the right path for you. Good Luck!
Reply:I actually had friends who went to the (now FAMU) university of Orlando law school, and their JD meant nothing because the University failed to get accredited before their graduation. Report It

Reply:Personally, I believe the purpose of law schools it not to teach you law. It is not to help you pass the bar exam. While in law school, I learned legal theory (the hows and the whys), countless laws that I will never apply in practice, and sat through mundane lectures of law professors who never practiced a day of law in their lives.

With that said, I believe an ABA and a AALS approved law school is absolutely necessary. The purpose of law school is not to teach you about the law, it is to train you to think like a lawyer. During my three years at law school, I had legal analysis drilled into my brain to the point it became second nature. That is what you will probably not get with an online school - legal discipline. If your goal is to pass the bar exam, you will need that discipline. Hope that helps.

How do I get started with a psychic business?

I live in Oregon and I enjoy doing numerology, astrology, tarot and psychometry for others. Unfortunately, a lot of people have abused my free help and so I'm thinking about changing a small fee. (like, $5 or arrange a trade for something, I'm not looking to get rich! lol)

I'm going to set up a shop online for this and do the readings through the mail/e-mail (I don't have/like phones).

Do I need to register a new business name for this and have a separate bank account? Can I just share the same bank account for my crafting business?

I don't need any snarky comments or Bible verses, so just go ahead and click on by to somebody else who needs it :)

How do I get started with a psychic business?
The book Professional Tarot (see URL below) is excellent about starting up a business like this. While you may not use tarot cards, it does offer good info on the legal side, the licensing, the set-up, everything you'd need to know at least of the basics.

How could I start this business?

I recently adopted 2 puppies off of online classifieds (craigslist, newspapers, hoobly, kijiji etc.). I love them so much! My boss wanted me to find her a puppy, too. While I was looking, I was wondering if I could make that into a business. I could charge a "finders fee" of something like $50. People would contact me, telling me what they want for a pet, and I would do the research. Once I find the pet, I would work with the person who has the pet to get the best price and I could obtain the pet and have the person who wants to buy it come into my office to pick up the animal and pay.

They would be probably paying the same price if they looked for the animal themselves, but I would be the one doing the research and hopefully working with shelters to get good deals.

I would ideally only want to work with animals up for adoption, and not breeders, but who knows.

I know there is a lot more details to work out, but what do you think?

How could I start this business?
There is a big liability doing this sort of work. You would have to be insured with liability insurance just in case you are sued for selecting an animal for a person for instance, and it ends up biting them. You would be to blame for choosing it and recommending it to the person

You would also have to register your business for tax purposes and be very cautious what wording you use to advertise yourself.

you will have to do market research to see how your business would fare/how much business would you be able to get and would it pay and cover your expenses as in fuel costs, phone bills insurance and office building.

there is a lot to do before you say you are going to do it. It could take up to a year just to set it down on paper.

You will have to do this to show it to the bank if you decide that you want a business loan.
Reply:Its a really cute idea but i wonder if the pet buyer would like to see more than one animal upon purchase cause unless you want a pet store having multipule animals on hand could get a little crazy.
Reply:i love it. i think its ana awsome idea im not sure about making it your carreer but it deff has possibilities! seriously i love it. go for it.
Reply:That sounds like a great idea i want to have a business as well but with just dogs.

A question about home based business write offs.?

alright so I am working at home on my computer, making money online via ebay, and other things like google adsense, etc.

what kind of stuff can i write off of my taxable income? since i am basicly working on my PC the whole time 24/7, is it okay if i go to Best Buy and purchase a boatload of PC equipment and write it all off???

i could use a new PC and new printer, monitor and maybe even a couple new laptops, one for the home office and one for the road... for my business of coarse.

A question about home based business write offs.?
Anything you use pertaining to your business is a write off. Gas mileage going for supplies or business meeting. Picking up the tap for business meetings. Your telephone line, internet service charges. I believe also a breakdown of the electricity you us to run your computer. All supplies you us including pens etc., anything you us to advertise even if you give it away to someone. you computer of course and equipment and software. I don't know exactly what you do for your business but my business i make candles and use alot of paper towels which i'm able to write off. there are so many things you can write off if you sit and think about what you're using and what you're using it for. Hope it helps
Reply:You can write off reasonable operating expenses. Normally equipment is depreciated over its useful life, but you can write off equipment purchases under section 179. You can also write off a portion of your expenses associated with the business, for example, a portion of your electric bill applies to your business, as does part of your phone bill and all of the cost of your Internet connection.

Why you would want two laptops is beyond me, especially if you have an office PC. When your expenses become unreasonable relative to the income you are earning, the IRS can get suspicious.

Why people run from networking business or mlm ?

hi

i m in networking business and geting very good result earning lots of money by working 3 to 4 hour a day. and the good thing is working from home , some time online, if people dont work expecting money its not possible ? is it ? so pl healp me..........................?

Why people run from networking business or mlm ?
People run because of the hype. Too many people lead with the opportunity. It is what most are taught in MLM or Network Marketing. Hassling friends and family will not create success in any business. Also leading with the opportunity when you are not making money is very damaging. The key is to learn marketing skills that attract people seeking what you have to offer. It is very important to learn the foundation of MLM and what makes it weak so that you can build a successful business. I have a couple useful links to MLM facts and tools in my profile page here at Yahoo Answers.

Reply:To work in MLM you have to be mentally tough. It is like anything in life, not everyone will see what you see. I wouldn't worry about the attitude of other people. Many people are content with their job and lifestyle.

Additionally, you will have family, friends and co-workers who will tell you that MLM is a scam and a pyramid. You will get frustrated and will want to quit a dozen times. You will have people in this answer forum who tell you that MLM is immoral, illegal, for suckers and that you should get a regular job. The truth is, more regular business people have gone to prison for scams and schemes and more companies have bankrupted their employees than any MLM company. Yes, there is the ponzi scam. You see in MLM everyone has to be a perfect angel or the whole MLM is painted as corrupt. However, when a individual regular company is indicted, well it was just bad management, or poor investments.

There are those from the "old school" of way of thinking who hate MLM and think that business ownership should only be for a few special people, while everyone else works at dead end jobs making them rich. They also think that the average person who sees a MLM business opportunity or the product or service are too ignorant to make a decision. I mean heaven forbid that someone who can't afford a fancy regular business might have a chance to make some extra money, save on taxes and share the opportunity.

People will also try to scare you by saying that 80 to 90 percent of MLM people fail. What they won' t tell you is that people fail in 80 to 90 percent of the things they do in life (education, losing weight, sports, entertainment, sports, relationships, etc). They will also tell you that only a few people make all the money in MLM. Again, this is true in any business.

A few good links that explains MLM and how to make it work are:

http://www.firstclassmlm.com

http://www.brilliantexchange.com

Also buy and read the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

Learn from people in life who are successful. They can teach you a lot. So if you fail with MLM, who cares. There is no success in life without risk of failure. A batter in baseball who goes to the plate does not get a hit everytime. A singer does not always have a hit single and not every business is successful.

Whether anti-MLM people like it or not, MLM is not going away. Yes there will be those who come and go, but so do a lot of regular businessess. While MLM's won't put any regular company out of busiess, what the "old time" business people don't like about MLM is it takes money and customers away from them. It is always about the bottom dollar.

Good luck and I wish you great success.

How do I wear a woman's three-piece business suit? Shirt required?

I recently bought a woman's Liz Claiborne three-piece suit. It came with a pair of trousers, a one-button jacket, and a third piece that I don't know what to do with.

It is a top that fits similar to a scoop-neck blouse, and it has a zipper down the side. It does not have sleeves, and it flares at the hips to create shape. All three pieces are black with a pink pinstripe, so it looks dark with just the three pieces together. Everything I've found online (general info about suits) says that it could be a vest, but I can't find my suit or anything like it displayed on a model anywhere online.

When I wear it without a shirt, it does appropriately cover my entire body (nothing risque), but I wouldn't take off the jacket because bare arms are not business appropriate. I could see wearing it with a button-front shirt under it without the jacket as cute office-appropriate wear.

So, should I wear a button-front shirt under the third piece when wearing the jacket?

How do I wear a woman's three-piece business suit? Shirt required?
i would say to be in the safe side you should wear a button down shirt under it. you always want to have your bases covered when it comes to looking pofessional. also if you want to take your jacket off you will have that option. you could try a nice long sleeve t in the winter (short in the summer) if you think it is appropriate for where you work.

Need web sight to get paper work for starting new business tax ids bus.lic. ect.?
Try your the Secretary of State in your state.
Reply:Tax ID is matter of tax form filled out or just being a dba and using your SS#.

Business license is something your local city government will deal with and issue, depending on where the biz is located.

There are no really forms to sit and fill out to open a biz. Each biz is different and the taxes, license, etc all pertain to each differently.

My biz, I need no license, no nothing. Just normal taxes each year. Just go to your local city office and ask them, they will tell you want you need and don't need.

The mound of red tape your are imagining is not there.

I have a choice between Penn State U Online or a Community College 1/2 and 1/2... What would be best?

I'm juggling two girls and my husband starting a new business, but it's time for my dreams before they fade away...

I must add that the Penn State U Online IST degree I'm going for will have a 300 hour internship and I will receive A Penn State Diploma, not an online equivalent degree...

At the CC, I'll start out online and have 1 night on campus, I will be certified in Microsoft and Cisco by the time I'm done...

I have a choice between Penn State U Online or a Community College 1/2 and 1/2... What would be best?
Typically, you can save a great deal of money by attending an online community college for your first 2 years and then transferring to a program like Penn State's to finish your last two years. Either way, you will end up with the Penn State degree.

I couldn't tell from your question what you planned to study. Are you actually planning to get a degree? Or just a certificate?

I have a list of 950 online programs on my blog. Feel free to perform a search and see if you can find some other options... http://www.online-college-blog.com

Sales tax license? Tax ID? business license?

I live in california and I want to open a small online store that sells toys like san-x and others. Many of the stores I've asked for wholesale said that I need to provide a sales tax license or Tax ID and business license. How do I get them? How much do the usually cost? How much are taxes? How often do I have to pay taxes? How old do you have to be? I'm 16.

Sales tax license? Tax ID? business license?
There are many steps in starting a business.

Most likely your business will be a sole-proprietorship. That's the easiest and simplist business to start.

But first, if the business will have a name different than yours, and chances are it will, you will have to file a ficticious name statement or DBA (Doing Business As) statement in the county where the buisiness will reside.

Then after that you will have to find out what licenses and permits are necessary. These will vary depending on what kind of business you want to start, and the county in which you reside.

There is a "CalGold" website that can give you a lot of information regarding what you will need.

http://www.calgold.ca.gov/

Then finally, you have to contact the IRS aout getting your Federal Tax ID. This is like a social security number for your business, and is necessary if you are going to be selling merchandise and collecting sales taxes. And you will be collecting sales taxes on cutomers that live in California. You can go to the IRS website and download their form SS-4, to apply for the Federal Tax ID.

And lastly, the minimum age to start a sole-proprietorship is 18. You can either wait two years to begin, of if they are willing, you can have your parents do the paper work for you.
Reply:go onto your state's web site and look for the comptrollers link. it will tell you all you need to know. there is no charge for a license.
Reply:I believe you have to be at least 18 to obtain a business license. It is illegal to operate a business without one.

How can I market gift certificates for my business?

I have an auto detailing business in Washington D.C. We've been in business for 15 years and I would like to get the word out about our gift certificates for the holiday season. We have a great internet presence and I do advertise the gift certicates online but the only way someone would find out about them is if they typed in auto detailing, washington d.c.,gift certificates. This doesn't happen often. I need to find a way to hit my target audience. I would really like to get an e-mail list for my surrounding area.

How can I market gift certificates for my business?
Gift certificates gift cards etc etc. Are difficult to promote on their own.

To get your customers into having the expectation of you offering them consider the following.

You must first as a promotion offer these gift certificates as a gesture of goodwill when someone makes a purchase of X amount of dollars they get a gift certificate valuing Y amount of dollars.

Once your customers are aware that have certificates then after a while of giving them away for free to build up goodwill.

People will eventually purchase them seperately, once you have established goodwill. And at that point you can market them seperately.

It should also be said that gift cards certificates are not as popular in every business situation. Since you're not an electronics store or a fancy restaurant.

You may be just in the type of business that people would not to get a gift certificate because people will have their car detailed less often than go out for a meal.

Hope I have put it in perspective.
Reply:u should try to get into the little newspapers, or either the regular newspaper. but find the books, or the newspapers people mostly read and advertise your gift cert. there

I need held with a advertising online job i started?

few weeks ago i started a online advertising job but i dont think i am doing it right. i have a little baby at home. i cant really live her anywhere and i thought working online could be helpful if i can make some extra money. the thing is that i have no idea how to do it, i really dont have any intrest in business and advertising. i kind a need somebody to tell me how to do it right and to make it work because so far i have no results.

I need held with a advertising online job i started?
One of the best advertising things you can do is go into forums and chat rooms that are based on consumers of your product (i.e., if you sell shampoo, go to hair care forums) and chat with people about what you do. Be careful to observe forum policies, but most will let you tell about yourself, even if you can only say hello and add a line with your signature that links to your webpage. Consider reciprocal links (you allow folks to put a link or your site, and you get one on theirs) and web rings. Mostly, it just takes time, time for the search engines to find you, time to build a business of any kind.

Good luck, and don't give up. It takes about two years to really launch a business.

How do I own a video store business?

How do I get copies of movies for customers to rent?

How much money do I need to save up to own one?

And how do I sign up for Government grant, do I

do it online? What website? Or do I have to go somewhere

to ask for Government grant?

What about business loan? Is it easy to get one?

And do I have to pay monthly rent or lease for a store or

what you call it? How much does it cost to lease a space?

How do I own a video store business?
I looked at doing this once. I don't know where you live, but unless it's in a place not well served by video places already, you may find it hard going. Nowadays people can rent online (Netflix), get cable on demand, and buy videos cheaply ($5 to $20). Video rentals were much more popular back when it cost $50 to $80 to buy one.

That said, if you still want to go for it - a small business loan will expect you to have a good business plan for at least the first 3 years, showing how you will work your way to a profit and that you understand the business. Some towns (ask you bank) have a counseling service - for free - by retired executives who can help you put a plan together. Unfortunately I forget the name of the program at the moment.

You will probably have to rent (lease is another term for rent, just means you've signed up for a certain amount of time); what it costs depends on where you live, but it's sort of similar to an apartment, price-wise. In a small town, $500 to $800 a month. In a city or shopping area - who knows? Could be much more. You'll have to look for places and ask what they want for it.

As far as where you get videos, there are video distributors that will provide you with your selection and promotional materials. Look up "video distributors" and see what you find.

To start, you'll probably need $5k to $10k just for videos and equipment alone (cash registers, computer), not to mention security deposit, rent, etc. It would help if you had a good $20k or more to start with, if not more than that.

Oh, and don't forget payroll, payroll taxes, employee records - unless you plan on being in the store all day and evening, and after hours as well - every day - you'll be needing employees.

Good luck!

How Do I Promote A Local Office Cleaning Business?

I'm trying to promote a local office cleaning business in Delaware County PA - http://www.ridleypa.com/office-cleaning....

I need some online and offline promotional ideas.

How Do I Promote A Local Office Cleaning Business?
I'd check out 'www.hellomynameisscott.com'. I found it has some great (free) marketing advice (link below) and is also quite inspirational and motivating (I have no affiliation with that website btw...)

Enjoy!
Reply:for that you start the submission in concern country it lead your site high among another one and generate the huge traffic so start to do it .....for further query you just visit to URL given below .........
Reply:Given you are providing cleaning services to small and medium sized businesses within a specific geographic area, it may be helpful to first define your ideal client. For example, consider:

* Minimum/maximum number of offices to clean

* Frequency of required cleaning: daily, weekly, etc.

* Industry: law firm vs. front office of a manufacturing facility, etc.

* Contact duration: month-to-month, annual

Next, determine what differentiates your services from others that may be currently serving your ideal client--if any. This could be the thoroughness/quality of your work, the hours when you are available clean (e.g., generally, later is better—no one wants to hear the vacuums start at 5:01PM if most employees stay until 7:00PM), your prices, your ability to work in environments that demand security (such as a bank, etc.).

Now you’re closer to being prepared to target your “ideal client” with a compelling offering. You may want to consider subscribing to a proximity-based business online directory (note that some enable you to include advertisements for your services within the newsletters of other local merchants). You can also consider advertising online with a geographic restriction that matches your service area. And of course, you can enhance your website and enable those seeking office cleaning services via search engines to find you more easily.

And given the size of your geographic area that you'll serve, you need to consider offline methods. Contact the local Chamber of Commerce to help identify companies represented by your “ideal client.” You can also consider "renting" a list from companies like Dun %26amp; Bradstreet. Depending upon the contact information you obtain, you can call them, send them flyer, or even e-mail them. Don’t forget to attend “Networking Events” and talk up your business. And ask your existing clients if they know of other firms that could use your service.
Reply:You can send out flyers and run ads on local newspaper. If you want to promote online, try benefito and craigslist. I see a lot of cleaning ads on both websites. I think both are free. Benefito allows pictures. There are 2 categories you will fit in, one is 'office cleaning' and the other one is 'cleaning'.

Give me a suggestion about business?

I have a store online, selling fashion clothing ,footwear ,handbags and accessories,my factory is in China.our products are mainly exported to UK,USA,France,Canada, etc. Now I want to expand the UK market, want to keep business with more UK businessmen. What should I do if I want to let more UK buyers visit my website?

http://www.in-brands.com

Give me a suggestion about business?
First you should not use other peoples Trademarks without qualification.

I suggest you add the word 'Fake' or 'Looks like' or 'Similar to' for each item - for example, 'Fake Adidas' or 'Looks like Nike', 'Similar to Armani' etc.

Next you site is SOOOO SLOOOOOW to load images - perhaps the pages should 'default' to text (description) with a 'hot link' to the images ... and it's too difficult to find prices ... (I followed footwear and ended up on a page that started with prices for Jeans !)

Finally I suggest adding a 'disclaimer' to avoid Customers complaining when their shoes fall apart or the dye in the jeans runs in the rain etc ... I suggest something like ..

'The Products shown here are intended for display purposes only. In particular it should be noted that items described as 'footwear' or 'clothing' are unsuitable for use outside the home.'

Good books or other resources on the topic of managing growth in a small business?

My family owned business (based in South America) is looking to open an office in Ecuador and another in Venezuela. We have been growing a lot in the past several years and feel having an office in each of these countries would help us capture more market share. Homemade natural pet treat/food business?

I am going to be doing my own homemade pet food home business for a bit of extra $, and to feed my own pets (3 cats, 1 dog)

Also, any ideas you may have on packaging the treats/food would be great... basically, tell me what you would like to see and purchase, if you were in the market for pet treats.

-What kind of pet would you buy treats for? (Bird, cat, dog, rodent)

-What packaging would appeal to you?

-What price ranges would you find acceptable?

-Would you buy the item online, at a reasonable price and shipping rate?

-Would you buy a gift basket for a pet, or someone with a pet?

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks! ;)

Homemade natural pet treat/food business?
I'd buy stuff for cats guinea pigs and rabits, but only 'cause they are the only pets I have :)

I think, a good price is around £1 to 3. Or $5 to 6

colourful packaging is essentiual, and state on the packet why your treats are better then the other brands, state they are handmade with your pet in mind ect.

I may buy the item online, but I'm not much a online shopper, but if you got on some good websites to advertise / sell your stuff, you should sell many .

A gift basket is a lovely idea, but it has a be a fairly cheap one, maybe make it seasonal, like a christmas one?

Good luck! or, as we say in Japan, gombatte :)

2. The price and the flavor appeal to me more than packaging. Well - except I don't like things that are hard to open. I like the resealable package.

3. Price ranges - under $1.00. They have food and don' t get treats that much.

4. Online - if the price were right - sure I would. But I have to figure in shipping too. And when you figure in shipping it may be cheaper to go downtown.

5. Gift basket - no never. I leave pet treats up to the owner. I know there are things my cats don't like. Like catnip for instance. My cats won't go near it.
Reply:I woud buy for dogs cuz they love things like that and cats cuz you usually only get a few varieties, same with birds. I wouldnt make it too much more expensive than the store but a little more cuz its made special and people are gonna be there for a reason, to spend money on thier pet. I thing this should be packaged in something that will apeal to the animal as well as humans. After all they want something different. And I would buy a basket, but I never order online but tons of people do. I dont really have any specific ideas on packaging, just that is hould appeal to both pet and owner.

Where to promote an event about kindness in business (San Diego)?

Hi,

The event is in San Diego and I posted it on most online calendars and in Asian Journal.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I can promote the event further to get to small business owners (0-5 employees) who want to be successful in business without giving up on being nice?

Any magazines you think I should advertise in? Websites? Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Naming my new fashion/accessories business! Need name ideas that are unique and creative!?

I've been given the nickname's of Hollywood and Hotpink - if anyway to incorporate one of these into my business name - I want it short and sweet so people can remember it easily. I will be selling fashion accessories and clothing online. Any help would be appreciated!

Naming my new fashion/accessories business! Need name ideas that are unique and creative!?
I am not going to discuss such things as trade marks, and registering the name of your business.

Here are some things to consider when choosing your name:-

Are you starting the business, with the intention of selling the business down the track? It may be easier to sell a generically named business, than one with your own personal name.

You have told us what your business intends to do, in its first year, but from my experience dealing with businesses, what they start doing and what they end up doing may be totally different things, because the opportunity presents itself. Don't limit your business by your business name.

If you have a passion or an inspiration from somewhere else use it. Explaining why you choose your name can attract people to your business, and your enthusiasm. DR Evils cat, Fluffy chinchilla’s, Tabby Cat, Nine Lives, Purrrrfect are all great names for someone who likes cats.

Do you need to tell the customers about the prices of your products, discount, affordable, Bi-Lo, best quality at cheapest prices?

Make sure that it is easy to spell, and pronounce. If someone hears it on the radio, can they google the name, and find you?

Do you want to limit yourself by using the suburb, city, or state you reside in, or do you want to encourage the community to shop locally.

In fact if you do choose a name ~ Google it ~ What comes up, is it already in existence somewhere in the world. If you Google my businesses name the only other entry that comes up is a single entry in the Netherlands.

What are your competitors called? Make a list of all of your competitors…do you want to sound like them or do you want to be distinguished from them?

Here in Australia a company has started called VIRGIN STAR http://www.virginstar.com.au/ ~they are an internet %26amp; IT service provider. They have gained a huge amount of exposure, because they have used both the name Virgin, from the Richard Branson empire, and Star, we have a fleet of planes here called Jet Star. The simple choice of their name has gained them a huge amount of exposure.

Another story ~ a client of mine ran a well known business in a county of England. A similar sounding business started up in the next suburb. There business wee not similar the new business sold training infrastructure such as projectors. My clients business used to receive cheques (b.t.w. correct spelling here in oz), in his companies name, that were probably intended for the other company. Well of course he would give the money back…but he also received orders that were intended for the other company, purchase orders would come through on his fax machine…he would source the equipment, and sell it to them making a tidy %26amp; easy profit.

I always say if you have a product or a service that someone will pay money for then you have a business. Yes there is a market for generating innovative %26amp; catchy names. Online you can visit http://www.namingtoolbox.com/ this websites catch phrase is “The Ultimate Online Guide for Naming Your Business or Product” and includes links to a software product they sell called the NameRazor, plus listing details of naming consultants, who can help you out, if your brainstorming sessions fail. (I have no affiliation with this group – just found them thru a search)

Hope that helps a bit.

Need advice on a Home Business Opportunity?

A friend of mine started a biz opp about 2 weeks ago. The other night while I was having dinner with her, she got an email that said she made a sale. She's never tried to sell me on it, but she did mention that she makes $500 - $1000 per sale.

What really gets me is that she never works on it. She pays for leads and the program includes people who close her sales for her.

From what I can tell at the site http://www.dsire2succeed.com it deals with the travel industry and I can't find any negative information online about it.

I'd love to hear your experience and why I should or shouldn't invest in it myself.

Please do not advertise your own opportunity, I'm not interested. Just looking for advice from those working the same business.

Thanks!

Need advice on a Home Business Opportunity?
Who is Lee R? I don't see an answerer by that name??

Here's a few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company. I'm not trying to advertise to you what my husband and I do, but give you examples, using my own business, on what you need to look into with this business. Questions you should find out before getting involved. If you had of said that your friend has been involved for a few months and said she kept getting notices on a sale, and was getting paid,I would of told you to go for it. But being as she's only been involved for two weeks, has she (probably not being as it's only been two weeks and that's not enough time for the account department to issue her a commissions check) but has she received any money yet? Do you have proof of that? (Not saying she'd lie about it either) Is it just emails being sent? Here's some things you should check into, like I said using my business as an example as to what we've done before getting involved. Find out these things and if your satisfied with the answers then go for it.

1. How long have they been in business? We checked to see how long our company was around, at the time it was nine years old and now it's 15. Do you know when they started?

If it's under 5 and you have to put an investment down, it would be risky. When we checked out the business we chose, it was almost 10 years old, so the probability of it disappearing was fairly low.

2. Are they registered with the BBB. Ours is registered. I think this is important one.

3. Who's involved with the company? Like in ours Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki has endorsed our company. We also have three former state attorney generals on the legal advisory commity. Do they have the legal backing?

Check to see if anyone has endorsed this company or is involved in any way with the company.

Also, meet with the co-founders. We've personally met our co-founders and found from our first meeting that they were incredible people with incredible visions. See if their's a time where you can meet them. If your going to be doing business, there should be a time where you should have the chance to meet with them and find out what their goals for the future is, for their representatives as well as their company.

4. What is the compensation plan now, and what was it like before. See the history of the compensation plan. Has it ever increasedand never decreased in the company's history. We checked with the records in our business and found that in over the years, the compensation plan had only gotten better each year. As long as we've been involved, we've now witnessed the compensation plan always increasing. Check the history on yours. Make sure the compensation plan is worth the time and effort.

5.Have they been featured in magazine's? For instance our company has been featured in several magazines Like Success, Fortune, USA Today etc. Check to see if they have. You can get a lot of information on the company by reading about them.

6. Has Inc 500 rated them? This magazine had rated our company the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it's first 5 years. Inc 500 shows the top 500 businesses in revenue growth. Check to see what Inc 500 rated the company your looking at. If their not on the list and they've been around for over five years, it would worry me.

7. Do they have a physical address that you can go to? Check for an address not just a P.O. Box If you can go to it, go and see the corporation. Asks questions.

8. Where are their headquarters? Do they have headquarters? Our world headquarters is in Farmington Hills Michigan, Personally been there, (If your here in the states) Other headquarters in Amsterdam, Sydney and Montreal etc. If they claim to be world wide, where are each headquarters located. Are they accessable?

9. What does the start up cost take care of? In my business headquarters takes care of all the billing for my customers, Inventory, Customer services, Order Entry, Employees, workman's comp, Cross referencing, Licensing, Insurance, paperwork, accounts payables, accounts receivables etc.

10. What is the product and service you would be selling.

Is the product and service in high demand? For instance we offer services that people are already using every day and paying for anyway, but at a lower cost. Things like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, cellular phones through all the major cellular providers. We make a percentage every single month they pay their bills. Everyone uses them and everyone pays for them. When money gets tight, would they keep your service or be able to run to the store and be able to purchase them on sale? Leaving you to have to wait until they run out of what they just purchased, or wait until their finances get settled? This is what I mean by high demand.

11. The product and services that you'd be providing, would you use and purchase yourself? Do you pay less then the normal person purchasing? ( you should have some sort of discounted rate being as your representing the company)

So many different things to check out in making sure a business is a good one to get involved in. If the business feels right to you, and all questions are answered with proof, then I'd say jump in. Running a business is different then a job though. You have to treat it like it's your child and not just something your going to "try" you have to believe in the product and service and go at it full force. This is your future your talking about, no one else's.

I hope my examples of what we looked into with our business helps you be able to find the same answers in your business. Forget about asking the common question and asking someone how much they make in their business to determine if you'd get involved in it or not. In a business, it doesn't matter what one business is making over another. It only matters what you do in "YOUR" business. I hate it when people ask me how much I make. Because they're not going to walk into and start up their business making what I make. I've been involved with my business for over six years. So yeah, I will make more then someone who just starts their business. If you tell someone how much you make, then it's a psychological thing that they expect to make that amount in a week, and that is just not going to happen. Six years of building a business verses 1 day. So don't even ask. Look at the possibilities for YOURSELF.

Hope this helps!

Here are some questions to ask:

-How many agents do they have?

-Do they actually sell travel?

-What are their annual sales?

-What are the average and range of earnings by their agents?

-How long have they been in business?

-Does this business protect your compensation plan or do they just make promises they can't deliver?

-Are they SEC regulated?

-Are they publicly traded?

-Do they offer any guarantees?

I hope this helps. Good luck!

How do I proceed with getting a website done for my recruiting business? I have no web design skills, but I have the aesthetic sensibilities... can I do it myself?

I will basically only need an intro page, an online application form, and a list of jobs that will be constantly updated. I do want nice flashy buttons that highlight when you move your cursor over them, and that sounds harder to do.

Can I design a professional-looking business webpage myself?
Yes use frontpage, photoshop ,etc, you can find step by step guide on how to design a website at websites like http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm
Reply:Check whether it fits your requirement...

http://www.awesomeflashsites.com
Reply:you should have a clear idea of html, vbscripts or php for functionality

and photoshop, flash for design
Reply:ya if your willing to pay for a good server to host your site and you have good HTML skills
Reply:Much of this isn't too hard to do. The tricky part would be the online application form and list of jobs that will be constantly updated. That sounds like it would require a database and scripting. And if you have no web design skill, your best bet in that case is to hire someone.
Reply:Well you're in luck I actually do this for a living, it really depends on what you want to do, if you plan on linking it to a backend database and having all your data live then you might want to seriously invest in a programmer.

Otherwise it's not necessarily hard to do, there are a couple of free programs out there that can help. I personally would tout a program called NVU. Another one which isn't bad for beginners is NetObjects Fusion, (not free unfortunately).

In terms of button rollovers which are the technical term for the buttons you want to create they are not hard. Assuming you already have your buttons created. If you are artistically inclined you may want to give doing it yourself a try, otherwise go with NetObjects Fusion, good program that has some pretty professional looking buttons already designed and ready for you to use.

Your best bet is to teach yourself a little HTML it takes about an afternoon it'll make your life a hell of a lot easier in the end because you'll be able to look at a page and take it apart visually or by simply going through their source code (In Firefox its CTRL+U, completely forgotten what it is in Internet Explorer unfortunately).

I want to start a cookie business from home any ideas?

Hi need some help anyone out there know on how to go about starting a cookie business from home and if so any ideas on how to do that i want to sell them from online Gourmet cookies etc anyone know anything about that??

I want to start a cookie business from home any ideas?
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal %26amp; Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Starting an Online Business For Dummies, 4th Edition by Greg Holden

* How to Start and Maintain A Successful Online Business by Kelly Thornton

* The Complete E-Commerce Book: Design, Build, and Maintain a Successful Web-Based Business by Janice Reynolds

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!

Reply:You can start with a yahoo store.
Reply:I may not have an answer but some advice would be to try it small at first and sell to local people first. That way you can give some feedback. Don't trust family and friends for this because they may not give you honest criticism. There are some websites that will give you business advice and some communities and colleges have people that help people get started. I haven't done an Internet business but in my business I know that you have to be prepared for both volume and lack of. Good luck.
Reply:i too wanted to do this. i suggest marketing your products, first and foremost.
Reply:I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you going to bake the cookies and sell them through online stores? If so, then make sure you have the right equipment to do the baking and the right location. Regulations regarding the preparation of food for sale can be quite stringent, and the average (or even above average) home kitchen wouldn't pass inspection. You might actually have to redo your kitchen to meet local health codes or even rent a professional kitchen.

Baking cookies for profit isn't a big moneymaking proposition. You may make great cookies for your family, but baking in batches of hundreds, rather than dozens, is something entirely different. All your recipes would have to be reworked, because you can't simply double or triple them to make bigger batches. It's just a huge undertaking, so be sure to look into all aspects carefully -- find the ingredients, come up with the recipes, find the kitchen, find a wholesaler or retailer to sell your cookies, figure out how to pack and ship them to keep them fresh.

I wish you luck! And make mine chocolate chip with pecans!
Reply:Step one, learn to use punctuation.

Step two, try to use proper grammar.

Step three, learn to bake.

Step four, sell cookies.
Reply:I don't know about on-line, but you if you use healthy ingredients you can try to sell them at local health food stores or health restaurants. I have a friend who does that, and these types of places usually pride themselves on supporting locals.

step five: the guy above me should give some real input or shut up.
Reply:Watch those growing hips....
Reply:If you could find or create some really nice recipes for sugar-free cookies for diabetic people, you just might get rich. Type 2 Diabetes is on the rise, and people getting it are younger and younger all the time. Good luck and best wishes.

(I will buy your sugar-free cookies.)
Reply:First thing you need to do by law is have a separate cooking area other than your kitchen where you prepare meals for everyone and it has to be certified by the Board of Health. After that, you get your DBA (Doing Business As) - On line Gourmet Cookies. Talk to someone at your Post Office to find out how you can ship your wares safely and at the least cost. Get an accountant to help you get your records of sales and purchases organized and to set up your tax records. The last thing you need to do is get a web site of your own (a paid professional web designer would make your site very attractive to get you noticed). Remember, to make money, you need to invest some money. Good luck with your enterprise - sounds like you may have a 'winner'!

Is it possible to own a business and remain private?

I mean. If i own my business as a sole proprietor but I do not want people who go there and live around me to know it is mine. Is this possible? Is there a place online they can find out who owns it or a government agency or something? I would like to keep it private for several reasons.

Is it possible to own a business and remain private?
There is no way to hide your ownership of a sole proprietorship. The big disadvantage of sole proprietor-ships is that you have unlimited personal liability for all the business obligations. It wouldn't make sense for the government to let hide your ownership from consumers that might want to find you to file a complaint for example. Even if you create a corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC), the person filing the formation documentations are public record.

Governments are concerned with consumer protection and while you might be able to complicate the process of finding the ownership the system is designed to help the consumer identify the owner of a company.

Reply:If your name is on the papers for the sole proprietorship then no, your name will come up online. Talk to a lawyer and they can set up a structure so that your name doesn't come up, but that means legal fees.

Good luck!

I have an interview for an online job and was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to answer this question...?

The presentation must not be longer than 20 minutes and will be followed by questions.

The presentation must deliver a creative but effective business solution to the Diet Coke brief. The presentation must also demonstrate an understanding of how online works.

The Diet Coke Break

The Diet Coke break is a very successful communication platform from the 80’s. It was very time specific. The Diet Coke break is being updated for the 21st Century.

The role of the new Diet Coke is as a catalyst to a break. Diet Coke operates as a conversation starter amongst women, based on collusion, cheekiness and pleasure seeking. It does this by providing a reason to instigate and enjoy a shared Diet Coke “break” moment for females.

The Diet Coke break is informal and can be anytime. It can be with friends either physically or virtually. It is about sharing, support, experiences and gossip. The tone is light hearted and fun.

I agree with what the guy above said.
Reply:If your asking us then your not qualified for the job. I mean it would be different if you were asking what we thought of your work. Also you said that it was a question. I dont see a question only a job description.
Reply:i wanted to answer a question not read a short story, i give up reading about 10 lines down. that has exhausted me!

I got my free online shopping website from http://www.theexpomart.com. Any other websites offering the same.?

I am running a small business and wanted to have my own ecommerce website besides the shop I have with ebay. After searching I found http://www.theexpomart.com from where I got my online shopping website Free of cost from along with free subdomain and free hosting. They are not even charging any commission on sales. I wanted to know are there more such websites which are offering similar facilities free.

What you have got from The Expo Mart is Great, I am also thinking of joining them.

I searched on the internet but could not find anyone giving it totally free they had some hidden ways or the others. So great going dude.

I feel what you have done is the best way to startup as you save tons of investment in setting up a online shop and you do not have any monthly or yearly costs to bear and what you save you can pass it on to your customers or use it to advertise on the internet.

Self employed for 20 years ,then you sell your business & retire, now youre searching for what job?

your business had been retail/wholesale at the edge of a large city.

you had started it from nothing it was successful small 10,000 square foot business you sold it %26amp; retired when you were 41,10 yrs have past, you have no college, now you seek what titled job?

Also which if any of the online job search sites are worthy?

thanks

and good holidays to all

Self employed for 20 years ,then you sell your business %26amp; retire, now youre searching for what job?
Great question because employers are reluctant to hire people who have been self-employed for a long time. They want yes-men. In any company, your years of experience should be equivalent to an upper management position. I would shoot for something like that.
Reply:Here's a plan for you. Go to a public community college or university and get an accounting degree. Enjoy your time and have a part-time job like at the school library and a book keeping job in the summer. Do internships. When you graduate you can either get a job in accounting or find a masters in library science program and go there for two years. You'll earn $30-40 thousand as an accountant or librarian. Pretty good jobs.

Or you can go to a community college and study to be a radiology technician or dental hygienist. It's only 2-3 years. You'd make $30-40k as a rad tech and $40-50k as a dental hygienist.

It seems like you'd do okay if you worked in a grocery store or something related to retail.

Or you can just find some kind of secretary, mail-room, or janitor job for the county or state and work for ten or fifteen years and it'll probably be enough time to collect a small pension when you leave. I had a relative who did this.

With the way real estate prices have gone you probably would have had a lot more money if you'd retired now wouldn't you? What made you retire at 41 and why do you need a job now? I'd want to have $2-3 million to retire at that age so I could live off the interest or dividends. Are you just getting a job to stay busy? Are you single or do you have a family? You're going to have a tough time finding a good paying job without a degree. Try monster.com for jobs. I've never used online stuff though.

Will yellowpages.com work for my business?

I have an online gift boutique that sells gift baskets and delightful finds.Hello I recently entered into a deal with yellowpages.com. They promise to get a minimum of 90 clicks to my site with a banner, add and more. I will be somewhere on the first page. The focus will be local and some national exposure. I will be on some sites that feature yellowpages as well. Have you tried this for your business and if so did it work. Any tips?

This package will cost $290 a month. What do you think?

Will yellowpages.com work for my business?
There is no guarantees, you have to risk it, and see if it will work or not.
Reply:yellowpages.com will yield a ton, yes a TON of sales calls to your business. If you have something to sell on the internet, yellowpages.com is the GREATEST sales lead list on the internet! Report It

Reply:No, it is really just hype. It may lead people to your site but there are no guarantees they will purchase anything. Who is to say that their own people are not the ones clicking on your site.
Reply:Run away, there is a thief trying to take your money.
Reply:If you were to spend $290 a month on direct mail and radio, you would see ten times the response.

Direct mail is a very potent response mechanism when done well. ...meaning a very professional looking design, great headline, insane offer, and targeted to a person likely to buy your product.

If you send out a home-made looking mailpiece to a mass of people you will get less than 2% response.

Typically, "yellowpages" anything is a waste of advertising money.

Hopefully you can fix your contract

Where can I get a New York Business license?

I am looking to be a sports promoter and I can't seem to find anything simple online here. I am hoping some one out there knows these things. I just want to get a business license and also I would like to know where to get a permit for venues so I can put on shows (Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, Wrestling, etc). If there is anything else I need, please inform me, thank you.

Where can I get a New York Business license?
For Business Licenses in New York, go to the official state government website http://www.nysegov.com/citGuide.cfm?supe...

For general information on Starting a business in New York , check out http://www.nylovessmallbusiness.com/star...

As for venue permit, check the respective cities. In New York City for example, the Mayors Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (MOFTB) processes permits for all red carpet, film, television and theatre events http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/permit...
Reply:Try asking someone there that has some knowledge of that subject, especially on Business Licenses.
