I’m 20 years old and I’ve been working since I was 17 years old…yes I graduated from high school early. I just finished my general education requirements but I find it difficult to continue with traditional college I need a college degree online and have considered the University of Phoenix.

I’ve been working as a loan officer assistant and plan to do my own loans on a part time basis but would loan to have a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Any comments…:

Advice finding Fashionable Men's Business Dress Cloths?

I can usually wear whatever I want to work, but sometimes we have clients in the office and I have to dress up.

I never dress up outside of work though, so the only dress cloths I have are old, boring, and uncomfortable.

I'm looking for advice on finding business dress clothes that still have a little "hipness" (sorry best word I could thing of) to them, and that are still comfortable. (Oh and lets not forget I'm on a pretty tight budget)

Specific answers would be great -- but also, any tips at all would help.

i.e.

good places to look (online or in stores)

things to look for (certain types of fits or styles that are good)

things to stay away from (common business fashion mistakes)

brands (good or bad)

colors (good or bad)

materials (good or bad)

etc.

etc.

Also - as a side note - I live in NC which is HOT and HUMID in the summer, and I already sweat a lot as it is -- so advice about breathable/sweat wicking fabrics, is welcome as well.

Starting a business selling t-shirts; Screen printing/direct heat transfer graphics on t-shirts/apparel?

I'd like to start a company that sells t-shirts and other apparel that have direct heat transfer or screen printed graphics, embroidery, etc on them. I'd like to have different brands and sell them online as well as to retailers both locally and nationwide (in the US). I've listed some detailed questions and information below: 1- I would like to find out more information on the different methods of putting graphics onto apparel, their strengths and weaknesses, the differences in each method, which method is appropriate for a certain graphic or expected quality and so on. I've done some research on the internet but I'd like to have much more information. Any book, website, video etc recommendations are welcome. 2- I would also be interested in learning more about the business/industry and learn more about specific companies in particular (www.tshirthell.com, Drifter, Affliction, House of Howe, Express, Monarchy, Vurt, and Element).

This market is saturated (based on the companies you listed). I would proceed with caution as there are thousands of similiar competitors.

Reply:I think that it depends on what you will study. I am in accounting and would never hire someone with an accounting degree from an on-line university. There is too much hands on learning that needs to be done during a class room environment for this specific degree. I would check with HR people that hire in the area that you want to go into and see if they hire from on line schools.

Need Help! Where can I find Business Reports?

Ok, I need help. I need to find extensive industry reports for all online subscription (paid membership) industries. I'm looking to do my upper division marketing paper on the growth, market conditions and competitor saturation for online subscription services.

Does anyone have some good ideas on how to find this information? I've been looking at: HarvardBusinessonline, Wall Street Journal, public libraries that access to business journals...

I'm not looking for someone to do my paper, just point me in the right direction so I can find the right resources.

Thanks

Do you think online translators work?

So, maybe you think that online translators work? Certainly the closer two languages are, the better the results, but here is a small portion of a Japanese website translated using a very popular and up-to-date translation service online:

"Darkness money like it puts out to that. If the subscriber good intention absolute however perhaps, it is saved, knowing circumstance, that business it raised fund, when it becomes, don't you think? it is the lith key."

Remember this next time you translate something and post as if you are actually providing anyone an answer.

Do you think online translators work?
Just thought I'd share a link my brother sent me one day. It's taken to the extreme, but I think to some extent it shows the unreliability of online translators.

http://tashian.com/multibabel/

Try it out. Mostly it spits out gibberish, but every once in a while you'll get an absolutely hilarious translation.

Reply:Yes they work, on simple sentences, but if sentences are more complex or relate to metaphors or concepts it is difficult.

Languages haves colloquial expressions "It rains cats and dogs" = in french "Il tombe des hallebardes/Halberds are falling".

Are cats and dogs falling from the clouds? Are Halberds falling from the sky..?
Reply:They do, sometimes. But you have to know a little of the language to ensure that it is correct. And to translate back to see if what you just translated makes any sense when translated back.
Reply:they do if you speak perfectly but if you use slang then it'll almost always come out wrong... also, you need to account for the fact that some words do not translate directly into different languages and will give you a word that is close, albeit sometimes incorrect, but what the translator thinks is right.
Reply:Only in in single words, but not in sentences.

Summer candle business...?

Summer is coming up, which means no school for 2 months and I really want to start a "little summer business". I'm too old for the lemonade stand thing (I'm 17) and I really don't like the car washing/mowing lawns idea, lol.

So, my idea was to start making candles. I've been reading a few things online and it seems pretty simple %26amp; fairly easy to acquire ingredients. It just seems like a good way to get my creative juices going and could possibly turn into "something".

What I'm eerie about is me using $$ I've saved up buying ingredients then attempt to make "high-quality" candles and they turn out horrible (over-achiever here!). I think I'll only try to spend around $20-30 (will that be enough to start out?) and see what happens.

Speaking of ingredients, could someone give me a basic list of everything I'll need?

%26amp; how much type do candles take to make? (including mixing/melting wax?)

I have tons of ideas running through my head but I'll finish with that. thanks for reading!

Summer candle business...?
well, another idea for you- bath salts. They are easy to make, sell well and are quite inexpensive.

As for making candles, it takes time and lots of practice. If that is ultimately what you want to do, I suggest ice candles. Basically you fill the wax layer by layer. Make sure your layers aren't too thick, otherwise the wax won't get deep enough to the previous layer. Start with a cylinder that can easily peel off the candle once it is set (such as cardboard) Start with a small pre-made candle stick and trim it to the size you want. First you surround it with crushed ice, then pour the wax over the ice. Then you put more crushed ice and then wax, etc. Once the candle is set and all of the ice has melted, peel away the cardboard and you will have a supercool looking candle, very unique.
Reply:My sister and I make and sell candles. Summer is usually our worst time for sales. Typically people are doing outside activities and are not sitting inside and burning candles. Fall is usually when sales start up again.

When we started this several years ago,we each put in $400 for a total of $800 to start. We needed every bit of that much. The first thing you need to do is make some candles and test burn them. You need to do this for every batch you make to make sure that you are getting a proper burn.

I don't want to discourage you,but in order to make high quality candles, you need high quality supplies. A 16 ounce bottle of scent can run from $20-$30 or more.

I would suggest that you try bath salts or lip balm. Try making some bracelets or other kinds of jewelry. At any rate,I wish you luck with whatever you decide to try.

Wholesale Reselling Business Experts Please!?

I am interested and just looking for more information about buying wholesale products and reselling them for profit on ebay. I'v searched for hundreds of websites so called "wholesale sites" sellings things from posters to clothes to electronics. They seem a little too expensive you would only make pocket change although you are the middleman since a lot of them dropship. My question is I know I would need a DBA + Business license in Washington which closes around $218 if I obtain that, can I really buy REAL WHOLESALE items not rip offs online? If so after obtaining the license (should I even obtain one?) where can I get a list of wholesellers. Also i signed up for a website $15 for 6 months bunch of wholeseller websites which was crap, it's all top dollar maybe you can make 3 dollars a knife selling on ebay which is not really worth it. So should I get a license? I want more info plz. Are there real wholesale websites? If so Where? Any comments/suggestions welcome. Thank You!

Wholesale Reselling Business Experts Please!?
you have to buy stuff from india and china directly and sell it in washington, Walmart purchases stuff from india and china since manufacturing quality is good and price is low

BBB - Better Business Bereau?

This BBB is a online organisation where you can lodge scam, credit cards scams, etc.

So can i trust them? n when i post to develop a report.. they didnt reply me.. i just want to make sure that a business company is legal and not scams. When i check with BBB company listing.. its is very hard to understand... whether the company is legal or just a scam.

BBB - Better Business Bereau?
Not sure where you are located, but the US site is very clear. The BBB is simply a depository of complaints; they do not actively try to resolve the complaints. In the US, they are a well respected organization and can be trusted.

Recommend 1 book to grow my MLM business?

I am an Ignite Managing Director. I have been doing pretty well since joining in the last 4 months. Like any educated person, I want to learn as much as possible (I have an engineering background and do that full time so I'm new to business approaches). Since this is my side business, I want to learn from the best and want ONE book to read for right now.

What is the BEST book out there that deals with growing a MLM business? (Please just 1 recommendation)

I'm assuming it has to deal with sales approaches, marketing, mindsets.... I'm very open and just want to absorb as much as I can but wanted to start off learning from the best.

Ignite is restricted to Texas and deals with electricity so my I'm restricted to how I can market online/offline.

Would you do this business?

The registration fee is $100 and you will get a free web hosted for life. The catch here is not the free web hosting, but the network that you'll build. If you recruit 5 members to do the same thing as you, you will get $20 for each of them. That's not all, for each of the following new recruits under the first 5 members that you've recruited, you will get $9 for each of them. That means you will get 5 (your recruits) x 25 (your recruits' recruits) x $9 = $1125. Your $100 is already returned plus you will profit from the recruitments under your network in the long run. You will get $9 for every member recruited at subsequent levels as long as they are based under your first 5 members' networks. If you have 7 members direct under you, you'd get a dividend from 13% of the total income of all the networks of the company. Registration is the least of hassles, you can do it online or through cell texts, without filling in forms and such. Would you do this part-time business?

There are plenty of other legitimate ways to make money online and still allow you to feel good about yourself and SLEEP at night! Try some affiliate programs from legit companies.

Looking to start home-based photography business?

I'm thinking I may want to start a home-based photography business in the next couple years - weddings, senior pictures, things like that. I was wondering if anyone had any advice/recommendations. I know I'll need a professional quality digital camera, an office in my home, good photo editing software, and maybe some set ups for pictures. I'm kind of confused, when you use a digital camera, and edit online, where do you get the prints from? Do you order them online? Do you order them from a photolab? Any advice/recommendations will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Looking to start home-based photography business?
I actually do this. I set up a website advertising my services and for the first two months, I did free portrait sessions for people- to build up a solid portfolio and get my name out.

I never have appointments in my home unless my husband is here and I only do away portraits in public places like parks, etc. Too dangerous these days.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS to do minor touch ups. I have a professional quality Konica Minolta.

It's a fun business, but the business fluctuates. I get a lot of people around Christmas and senior portrait time- the rest of the year, it's pretty slow. Not a good idea for a way to pay bills, but it definitely pays off for "extra" or "fun" money.

I do my prints through PE Photos online. THey have software you can download to your computer that will allow you to put together a package and then order prints and they're CHEAP- between $0.06 and $10.00 a print up to a 20x30, which is the largest anyone ever orders, depending on the size.

Good luck!
Reply:Great idea.

Get some books on the subject or google it to learn how to frame pictures and how to take interesting pictures.

Then start taking pictures. Lots of them. Keep the ones you like in an album so you can show prospective clients.

If I wanted to get started in this business, I might make the rounds at the local kids sports events. Take pictures, and bring them to the next game and see if you can sell some.

With the good digital cameras, you can take a movies and extract the best pictures from the movies.

I have an Olympus SP550UZ for this. It's about $450 at Walmart. It will take about an hour of video at the highest quality or about 10,000 pictures with a 1 gig memory chip.

You could also open a myspace account and post your best pictures there. Then you have someplace to refer people who might want to use you.

It sounds like an exciting opportunity. Hope it works out well for you.

You can order prints online or you can just take them to Walgreen's. I think you can order online and pick them up from your local Walgreens.
Reply:i think it is a great idea. my aunt used to do that. i will answer your question later.
Reply:Digital has revolutionized the wedding/portrait business by allowing the photographer to complete the shoot, polish up the pics, and upload to an online printing agency. You simply e-mail the client w/the album info and password, they pick the ones they want and order them from the printer. So in theory, after you complete the shoot and editing, your involvement ends.

Keep in mind, you should try several online printing services, I like snapfish, but there are several out there. Upload several copies of the same photo, with different color profiles assigned to see what file produces the best results. You will need not only a quality Dcam, but a fast internet connection, and a firm grasp of color calibration/management if your going to achieve consistent results. Study online or take a class in digital to get the basics down, there is more to it than most people think. I would also recommend you research wedding photography, contracts, think about an assistant for the day of the shoot, and you will want to have at least 1 second camera body and flash set up in case...

So as you can see there is quite a bit to think about, let alone a substantial monetary investment to be made if your going to do it right.

G'Luck...
Reply:my advise is goto photography school, if you want to compete with seasoned pros, photography school grads and "keen" amateurs you better know lighting and photography

cameras are tools, its the operator makes the difference

a
Reply:First, enroll in a photography class. Use a manual 35mm film camera so you'll understand f-stops and shutter speeds and ISO and light and composition. Learn about using studio lights.

Take some business classes.

Learn if you need to incorporate the business. If your personal assets aren't separated from your business assets you could ruin your credit or, worst case, lose your home if the business were to file bankruptcy.

Learn about business insurance. What if you shoot a wedding and somehow lose all the images. More than likely the couple will be calling their lawyer even if you offer a full refund. Did you see the story about the bride who is suing her florist for $400,000?

Ask your insurance agent about any special coverage you'll need to add to your home owner's policy. Suppose a client falls off your posing stool or trips on your stairs. Does your insurance cover their injuries? Or do you pay out of pocket?

There is much more involved in starting a business than most people realize.
Reply:A woman I work with her husband is a professional photographer and when I chatted with her she said that the industry is flooded with people who get decent digital cameras and think they are professional photographers. They take pics at a wedding or whatever, download them to a CD and give them to the person. That's not a professional photographer. I am thinking the same thing as you, I'd like to have the same sort of business. I will tell you what I am doing. I bought myself a really good camera that I know is semi-professional/professional quality and I am doing everything I can do right now to learn how to take good pictures. I look at all kinds of sites on the internet, camera websites, photographers websites, I have signed up for tons of newsletters...anything and everything that will help me learn how to take pictures. I am starting to read my way through a ton of photography books and magazines. In the new year I will be enrolling in a photography course. I have got a photoshop program and books for that as well so I can learn how to edit my pictures and I may end up taking a course on that as well. Also I will probably take a course on small businesses, I believe the average is 1 in 3 photography businesses are out of business in the first year. There is a ton of work involved but I think in the long run it will pay off with a successful business.
Reply:You will want to BE a professional before you start offering professional services. This means that you need to know the ins and outs of what it takes to make a great photograph, both technically and asthetically. From the way that you asked the question, I can tell that you have a ways to go in your photography education.

Before even thinking about starting a business, you should have all these details figured out.

As others before me have stated, take some photography courses or teach yourself, learn under(apprentice) an established photographer before getting yourself into this kind of thing.

Poop Scooping Business???

Hi I am very interested in starting a poop scooping business but need to find out some of the details like pricing, types of insurance, etc. I would love to get my hands on the book called The Professional Pooper-Scooper that I've seen online but it costs $50 and I refuse to pay that much for a book. Unfortunately, it's the only book that I've been able find that is dedicated to this profession. Anyone have any ideas on where I can find the info I'm looking for?

Hey, try this website:

http://www.bigmen.com/

They do pants for special make-up that go up to 80 inches (you could always ask them to go up a little more). They also do large shirts.

I'm really sorry, this is the only one I can find. You could always try taking your clothes to a tailor and having them make alterations for you, because, if you find a good one, it's not always too expensive. Also, I'm sorry about all these jerks telling you to change your life. I say more power to you. Hope I helped!

Starting e-business?

My wife has been considering starting an internet business in the health sector. I told her I would research the idea a bit more to find out how much it would cost. I know a guy who runs a consultation service online and I know that its pretty expensive to get your site built and hosted but the company that built his site broke up the total cost into several payments. But me and him aren't close and I didn't ask too many question regarding money.

So any insights or references would be helpful, thanks!

Online love that I can't get over it! is it fair?
Oh-kay. You do understand that you are in love with love, yes?

You "devoted yourself to him for more than three years,"and for six months of those three years he's been ignoring you. You fantasize about him. You don't date anyone else? "I don't think I'll get over it..."

That's a decision you make. He's made his - he ended it, and in a lame way. He just...stopped. Maybe he's in prison (yikes), maybe he just lost interest. For whatever reason, he's ended the "relationship."

Understand that unless you actually met him - met his family, his friends, became part of his life - you only had a virtual relationship with the person he presented himself to be. You don't know for a fact that what he told you about himself was true. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. You don't know.

You do know that the relatonship is over. Yes, you can get over it, if you want to. Right now, you're caught up in the lovely drama, the "I'm a tragic heroine" story you're telling yourself ("devoted," "he loves me," "I can't get over him..."). Feels all nice and dramatic. Makes you feel special.

More fun is to feel special in the company of an actual guy who really knows and loves the real you. In person.

He was a fantasy before, and he's a fantasy now. Tell yourself whatever story makes you feel good (after all, it's unlikely you'll ever know the truth). Tell yourself he joined the Foreign Legion. Tell yourself he was a magical prince and had to go back to his magic land. Whatever works.

Then get out and spend face time with some living, breathing people.

other guys just don't want a real relationship....they just want temporary girlfriends....it might work for them for a while...but eventually their looks go and slowly they find they can no longer so easily find girls who only want nothing....most girls want real love.....

College Textbooks: Business Essentials?

I ordered one of my textbooks online, and just received it in right now. The website was incorrect and the seller did not send me exactly what they had advertised (even has a different ISBN#). They sent me the "International Edition" of Business Essentials (6th Edition). Is there a difference?? Or is it just the this edition is cheaper or something? I just don't want to show up to class tomorrow and have it be wrong.

College Textbooks: Business Essentials?
There are a lot of factors to this question....Talk to the teacher and ask if they know of any major differences (typically not, but ask to make sure). Double check reading assignments to make sure the chapters are related. You do not want to have to read a chapter on economics and find out your edition is on marketing.

Looking for instructional online classes for hide tanning & high quality tanning kits?

i am wanting to get into the tanning business for a hobby but i need some training on how to tan hides. are there any websites or online classes that teach hide tanning? i want to know from start to finish on how to tan a hide. are there any good tanning kits or online stores?

The first three sites deal specifically with brain tanning, where the animal's brain is used as the tanning agent (interesting note: Each animal is said to have enough brain to provide the required amount of tanning agent for it's own hide). The advantages to brain tanning is that you will not need to find a way to store noxious/dangerous chemicals, you don't need special equipment such as ventilation hoods, the hide doesn't get as stiff as when chemicals are used (brain tanned buckskin is supposed to be the softest available) and you can tan a hide nearly anywhere (even in the dining room, if the wife will let you). The biggest drawback to brain tanning is the smell and the mess...but then, the vapors from some of the chemicals used for commercial tanning can kill you, and they'll ruin the dining room table. (I would rather put up with the smell and mess of brain tanning, than possibly die from breathing poisonous vapors.)

There are a lot more sites on tanning leather, some even dealing with vegetable tanning, but I only had time for a two-minute search.

Help with new business website...?

hi - i am in process of setting up a new business and at present i am having someone design the website.

customers will be able to order products online, but my question is how do i go about accepting payment/credit cards etc. Do i need to instruct my bank to do this on my behalf or is there an alternative way.

thank you in advance

Help with new business website...?
There are lots of ways to do this. PayPal is one of the simplest. Look at their site and read what it says under merchant services.

With PayPal, you're using their merchant account. Another way is to get your own merchant account through your bank. Ask them what services they offer and what fees they charge. Compare with PayPal.

If you go through your own account, you will also need to have a merchant gateway integrated with your web site. Your web developer may know how to do this or your bank may be able to help.
Reply:I could build you an ecommerce website/store that has alows you to create and have various categories and products. You would be able to upload a photo and enter description and details for every product through you administration backend for managing the site and the products you would be selling on the website. The website would be able to accept card payments through paypal(online transaction company). You could contact me at turnkeymaker@hotmail.com

I opened a Foreign Online E-store. Need advice???

I opened an account as an affiliate seller/distributor to an online store in Iceland called NORDICSTORE. I live in the USA. I need advice as to how to distribute the merchandise i have access to sell. In other words, the best way to advertise it with the least cost. They sell everything that is made in Iceland ( i guess it is considred retail). I thought about EBay however they are an auction site. Any thoughts on how to start my distribution business with them. They are a legitimate operating business. Thanks

I opened a Foreign Online E-store. Need advice???
You can set up a store on ebay or on Yahoo, which will give you a base of customers to access. You'll have to use auctions to drive customers to your store and you'll want to do some advertising on the web to bring customers from outside into your store, but you get a URL just like setting up a website. With ebay, a store costs $16 per month, plus listing and selling fees, with Yahoo, ZI think its $150 per month, don't know about the other fees.

Or set up your own website at GoDaddy.com. Don't know about the fees there.
Reply:Ebay is not all auctions. You can sell items at fixed prices.
Reply:EBay, Indiatimes, Siffy, and Yahoo, are some of the popular portal for inter-net shops of world fame. There are are few more e-stores, which are not so popular. You may start a new URL or a portal of our own or affiliate of EBay, Indiatimes, Siffy, and Yahoo, to have a much better res ponce.

Have a net work of your own.

Online Associate Degrees?

I've heard a degree is a degree, so online diplomas are just as good as the physical school ones correct?

Now which onlines schools are legit and the 'best'?

Every search I have done for the above brings me an ad for Penn Foster; is this school actually that good though? Are there any other good ones I should know about to give me some options?

If it matters at all I am looking at business generally. Thank you for all of your help! :)

Online Associate Degrees?
I got my bachelor's with St. Leo University. I used a combination of online classes and distance learning. They are fully accredited. Don't buy your degree from a diploma mill. Employers know which are legit and which are not.

My hubby got his MBA through St. Leo as well.

You can find them here http://www.saintleo.edu/SaintLeo/Templat...

35% in 90 days isn't so great. What if you lose 35% the next 90 days. If you want to be a broker go get a business degree and never invest friends money unless you don't want any friends

Thinking of a career change, business to ?; Any advice for making a change? Where to look for information?

Hello. Earlier this year I graduated from college with an undergraduate degree in Business management. I have had only a couple of offers for employment, but nothing that would satisfy me. I figured a salary around 30k to begin with along with benefits would not be asking for much. I been becoming frustrated lately trying to find something and now Im thinknig of going back to school and looking outside of business for a major.

Im just curious if anyone felt the same way and what you did, or what are you doing now, to go about a career change? Have you looked at anything online that has assisted you and helped you make a clearer choice? Anything you can help me with would be greatly appreciative. Basically Im confused and just looking for suggestions. Thank you to all who reply!

Thinking of a career change, business to ?; Any advice for making a change? Where to look for information?
First, I guess I really dont understand why you want to make a change from business. Did you decide you dont like it? If not I'd stick with it, rather than start out in something else!

Second, if you dont like the looks of 30k then you're definitely not going to like the looks of your college bills, lol! You could go back to school, but in that time you could always develop your skills at one of these jobs, and who knows, you might be able to get a raise in a few years...same amount of time to do more schooling, and you wont have extra loans.

If you really dont have a good reason for changing from business, I'd stick with it. And the best way to earn more money and qualify for higher paying jobs is to continue on in that field. Find a program and get your MBA (masters degree in business). It usually only takes a year or two, and you'll be able to make more with the extra credentials.

If there is a real reason why you dont want to pursue business anymore then you're going to have to think about things better before you ask people advice on Answers. What do you like to do? If thats too hard to start out with, first start thinking about the things you definitely WOULDNT like to do, thats often an easier list to generate. When you figure out a couple things you would like to do then I'd do a little research, read a few books in that subject area, etc. This process should help you narrow down even more.

When you've narrowed down to only one or two, then start looking for programs. Please note that you might not have to go back to get another BA degree. Sometimes schools let you in a graduate program even if you didnt study that subject in your undergraduate degree. For example, I'm in a masters/ph.d sociology program right now, and our department has accepted students with business, english, philosophy degrees. For them to get in they must be good students, have some experience, and/or show very strong motivation and interest for the subject. Its just like anything else, you've got to make yourself stand out.

I have definitely felt just like you - confused and frustrated, and I have made a number of different changes in my path. First I wanted to be a math teacher, then I majored in Chemistry, then Psychology, then Sociology, and now, within Sociology, I'm studying Criminology. Basically you just have to listen to yourself...if you're not enjoying something its time to move on. But as to where you move on to - information is the key to making the next right move. Follow your heart first, use your head second, and after that you'll feel confident to move on to something that is right for you.
Reply:There is a great book that can help you figure out what you want (instead of just what your options are), and how to get there. It's "WISHCRAFT" by Barbara Sher. She'll help you figure out what your dream job is, then show you how to break down getting it into simple steps.
Reply:There are a lot going on in your message to try finding the best way to help. Here are some suggestions:

If you have some ideas on what else you rather do besides business management related jobs, then maybe career change is a good option. You may try finding a career coach to help you figure it out.

However, if you frustration is about finding a challenging job that pays well, then perhaps we should discuss job searching strategies, how to market your skills, where to look etc.

Given that you have only graduated earlier this year, my sense is that the second scenario rings more truth. There are many different directions you can take with a business degree; you just haven't found the niche that challenges you.

Perhaps, look for the industries/sectors that you might be interested and focus your search on those companies. Here is a quick list to help you start.

Hospitality industry:

- hotel

- restaurant

- etc..

Manufacturing industry:

- food

- plastic

- auto

- etc...

Financial industry:

- bank

- mortgage

- insurance

- investment

- etc.

Non for profit industry:

- hospitals

- research

- charity

- etc.

Talk to other people to learn from what other people do in their jobs. Even if they are not in business management roles, you can still learn about their industry, nature of their business, what they like and dislike about their work etc.

Not knowing what you want to do isn't a problem. Instead it is a source of freedom to explore.

Best wishes.
Reply:I think you need to understand how to sell yourself. Do you have a great resume? Do you know how to sell yourself in an interview? Do you know how to network to find out where the best jobs are (they aren't in the newspaper or online)?

Graduates today need to stand out above the crowd. Did you do anything besides go to school? Volunteer work? Some sort of extra curricular activity related to your major or a job?

The Occupational Outlook Handbook, in the library, gives detailed descriptions of different careers with salary ranges. It comes out yearly, so it is up to date and a good resource.

Also, have you gone back to your college and gotten help at the Workforce Development Department? Most colleges today have a good set up, they have listings, contact, and can provide some feed back too. One last thing, appearance when you interview. Look like a professional when you go in, not like a recently graduated college student. The first impression is everything.

Online universities?

I would like to earn my associates degree, I am wondering if anyone has a list of online universities that aren't a scam? I know that some of them are out there. I don't have a lot of free time, so I need something that I can do with my busy schedule. I am looking for something that has to do with business, and management. I am also looking for something that isn't too expensive. Any suggestions?? Thanks all = )

Online universities?
I attend American Public University. It is accredited. It is mainly for military families, but there are others enrolled as well. I am in the graduate part of the school, and we have an assignment due at the end of the week. So as long as you are able to log on once a week you should be fine. I would ask them about the undergraduate classes though. I know some have gone to University of Phoenix, but I personally do not know anything about them. I hope this helps.

Considering Starting an at home business?

I'm considering starting an at home business, most likely gift baskets and yes I know there's lots of competition and all that. But even before that I'm wondering if it's even worth it.

I've found several websites with wholesale pricing, varying from cheap inexpensive items to brand name and gourment items. most request your federal tax id# before they will show you their wholesale pricing list though.

So far I'm looking at federal tax info, state tax info, state info for starting an at home business, looking into website domains and hosting, account software, gift basket ideas and possible clients, etc and that's all before I can even buy anything. I was thinking of possibly making say a dozen various baskets to sell online thru possible an ebay store or send out letters to a couple dozen potential clients to see if their is any interest. I just don't want to go thru all the federal and state tax issues and forms if it won't work out

any suggestions or ideas?

You certainly are approaching it the right. As you can imagine, some websites are expensive to set up and maintain. How are you with setting up your site?

I'm in a program that gives you a 10page site for $10.00/mth. So far I have no issues of hosting, and both my site attract quite a few hits. They only been up for about a month and I'm very impressed with out come.

The other thing this has available, is that you have join you and have a small earnings in return. Ultimately, the site effectively cost nothing to have , and could even earn something for you. But, you don't have go down this road if you wish to promote your products on the website.

If you are interested in a genuine program, very little investment to set up, and good returns with a like work, this could be the answer for you.

You have 7day free period to view the site, and then only $10.00/mth to stay with it. Check out my site and click on the banner. You could be pleasantly surprised at what it offers.

I can't afford to buy the textbook, Internatonal Business so..?

I was wondering if someone could give me the url on the back of the textbook, International Business, 6th edition by Charles W. L Hill. so i can use the online resource. I have a huge test on monday.

I can't afford to buy the textbook, Internatonal Business so..?
I don't have the Hill edition, but i have another text book on Int Business which i'm sure could be of some use, it is what i used when i was doing my degree a few years ago. Go to

Reply:OK you have a huge test on Monday. You have been in college how long. How have you made it through the class without the book.

I am not trying to be mean here or anything. But people who go to college and do not have text books have a higher failure rate and drop out rate. Can you get the money from your parents. Or go the financial aid office and explain. They may give you a book to borrow. Many school book stores sell used books.

Is University of Phenoix Online worth the money?

I'm going to be graduating high shcool soon and want to start work right away. in order for me to go to college i have to pay for it myself (reason for me wanting to work right away) but i also want to take college classes soon so i can start towards a career. I dont do well with going to campus and sitting in a classroom i'd rather do it on my own time(i know there are deadlines) i was considering an online course and the best i found was UofP i've looked at reviews and its hard to make a decision of going. i'd want to go for my BA in business marketing and my masters in Business adminstratives. any advice, comments, opinons will be great. i know in the end its up to me and i plan to think hard about it.

Is University of Phenoix Online worth the money?
I would encourage you to investigate other options besides the University of Phoenix. The degree isn't very well respected and it is a lot of money. Check out the publc schools in the state where you live--more and more of them are offering on-line classes. The community college where I attended (in class) now offers many of its courses on-line.

I can tell you that very few MBA programs will consider the UOP BA degree very useful, and you definitely don't want to get an MBA from UOP--it has a terrible reputation. You should also work FT for a few years before you get an MBA as this makes your education much more relevant (I went after a number of years of working).

I would check all the public colleges in your state, and speak with people about how to enroll and what the expectations are. On-line school is hard unless you absolutely have the willpower to sit and do the work, year after year. But, you sound like you are going in the right direction.
Reply:Hello.

The first thing you want to be concerned with when researching online colleges (actually, all colleges) is who accredits them. There are several accrediting bodies, on the state and regional levels. Some online colleges are not accredited at all, others are accredited locally. You want a college that's accredited by a respectable body (our accrediting body is NEASC in the northeast).

There are plenty of highly respected, fully accredited colleges in the US that offer online classes and full degrees-- many of which offer courses in business. My thought is that you should start with colleges in which you are interested, and go to the individual sites to see what they offer online.

Online learning is a great way to earn college credit, but you need to make sure it's for you. Are you deadline-oriented? Do you work well independently? Do you communicate well in writing?

To be very straightforward-- people's perception of online learning varies. I'd look for a reputable college first and see what you can and can't take online. If that doesn't work, look for another well-known college or University. I actually work in online learning and know that many schools take our online credits without question. However, I am hesitant to recommend U of Pheonix, since the perception of U of P. from people whom I've encountered often lackluster.

Do your research. I know it's difficult, but I'd hate for you to sink your money into something that might not beworthwhile.

Good luck!
Reply:If the best you found for online courses was UoP then you didn't look very hard.

UMass has an online bachelor's in business http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/Bache...

other options include the likes of CalState, Central Michigan, East Carolina, Indiana State, Kansas State, Northern Arizona, Southern New Hampshire, SUNY, UAlabama, Washington State, Liberty, Marshall, Missouri State, NYIT, Old Dominion, UFlorida, UMichigan, West Texas A%26amp;M, etc... there are many more.

Your options extend way further than UoP and their kind unless that's the level of college you can get accepted to.

What I would suggest for you though is that you take a single online course at Louisiana State or Brigham Young (transferable, quality, and not expensive) and make sure online education is what you want to be doing before you invest 10s of thousands of dollars.

UoP is incredibly expensive compared to many very much better options.

Starting a business selling prints- Printing photos?

This might be an obvious question, but I have never printed my digital photos beyond using a Wal Mart or something for a few envelopes of travel or casual shots for personal use. But I am now wanting to sell some larger-sized matted prints through souvenir shops, etc. After I find a good online printing service I wish to use, how does the process work? Do I email them hi-res shots I want printed, and they mail me my prints? Is this cheaper than using a local printer? I would think the cost of mailing bulky, heavy paper would offest any cost savings of using a local printer. And do I set up a business account with them or something? Would I use Shutterfly or a similar service? Thanks!

Starting a business selling prints- Printing photos?
If you are talking about prints larger than 30" typically your local printing shops will have that outsourced and sent to them. I am sure that they either have a business account or a central printing shop that has the equipment to handle such an order.

That being said, I like local. I have had problems in the past with both York Photo and Mpix with pics that never arrived. York took over 2 weeks and Mpix has been well over a month and still nothing. They finally FedEx'd a replacement order but I will never use them again. I have had problems locally, but since they are the ones printing the pics I just look the order over and point out any problems and they take care of it within a few minutes. I use http://www.ritzpix.com/net/Default.aspx They are kind of the K-mart of the photo printing industry but I like that I can look someone in the eye and say "fix this". Also I had Mpix print multiple sizes of the same image and the colors were different. I am a screenprinter by day and maybe I am just splitting hairs, but then again I expect pics from the same file to look the same.

Online Degree?

Ive been thinking about getting a degree from Athabasca University which is an online school that is FULLY accreditated. I can do either 1 or 2 more years, after I get my 3 year diploma in business. Either

1 more year for a Bachelor of Human Resources and Labor Relations, or

1 more year for a Bachelor of Management, or

2 more years for a Bachelor of Commerce

What do you think? Anyone else have an opinion on Athabasca, remember its fully accreditated, not a degree mill.

Online Degree?
Being accredited is not the same as being good or being respected. The University of Phoenix is accredited -- but is also a laughing stock.

Athabasca may be accredited -- but it is not selective. You don't even have to have a High School diploma to enroll. Therefore, employers will not know if its graduates are good or if they are idiots who could not get a degree elsewhere. On-line degrees are not respected by employers.

Most on-line schools are For Profit corporations that charge more for tuition than reputable state universities.

Be smart -- go to a real university.
Reply:When looking at online degrees, you should consider the source of the accreditation and the relative respect in your field for that particular school.

There are many brick and mortar schools that also offer online programs that are fully accredited and may be viable for you as well as an online only school.

In addition to the school's regional accreditation, check into the professional discipline accreditations for those schools at well. Many of the professional organizations in each discipline can also tell you whether a specific school's degrees are considered acceptable.

Online Colleges?

I am trying to complete my degree in business Management. I have completed total 40 college credits. I wanted to go back as part time student, but would like to complete in short term. Are online colleges better or should I go to regular 4 years college.

Online Colleges?
I think Emerson College in Minneapolis is the only on-line school with a decent reputation.

I would think it much better to find a university with a physical presence that offers distance education. It's usually tougher to do distance ed. than to attend normal classes--I think instructors are more demanding when they never face their students--so it all depends on how flexible your schedule is. But not many employers are going to look favorably on a degree from a school that pops up on banner ads.
Reply:There are many pros and cons to whichever choice you will make. It all depends on how you handle things. Online study should not be viewed as easier to get through than the regular method whereby you would have to attend classes physically. Online degrees are meant for those who can work on their own in a disciplined manner, consistent in their work pace and are self motivated. If you think you have these characters, then doing it online would not be much of a problem to you. In terms of the acceptence of online degrees, there are many traditional universities and colleges now offering online degrees....so there shouldn't be any doubt about their standards. Here is a website which gives a brief idea of the flexibility and convenience in doing your degrees online. http://onlinedegree.350.com/Online_Accre...
Reply:My daughter got her associates degree with an on-line college. Some of them have 5-6 week terms so you can get more credits in a shorter period of time. Check out Liberty College and the University of Phoenix. I don't know how much the tuition is, but you can finish your degree.
Reply:LOOK UP ASHFORD UNIVERSITY ONLINE
Reply:A regular 4 year college is better. Many have programs that have only a small face to face requirement eg

http://www.esc.edu/esconline/online2.nsf...

IMHO that is the way to go rather than an exclusively on-line course.

Thanks

Reply:From finding a future job standpoint, do not go the route of an online college. I work in human resources and if a resume comes across my desk as being from an online college I just stick it at the bottom of the pile. Online college may give you a degree, but they do not prepare you for the necessary attributes required by most jobs that a regular college would. Universities provide you with a well rounded education and other skills such as the ability to work well and interact with others and the ability to communicate and represent yourself in a pubic setting. These attributes are not learned by merely sitting at a computer, reading a book, and taking a test.
Reply:I take courses at Davenport University both online and inseat. My courses online are 7 weeks long as opposed to the traditional 15 week inseat courses. Which gives me the chance to get through my degree twice as quickly.

If time is more essential, I would take classes online. However, I can tell you it involves a lot of work and dedication in order to complete assignments, exams, mid-terms/finals. The offset to this is, that you often times can use your books, notes, etc to help out.

Also, if you are interested in the financial aspect of it...My classes online are $1275.00 for three credit hours and registration fee is $70.00. DU can also set you up for a book voucher if you need to add in books to a student loan, so you can purchase them through MBS textbooks online. =)

Hope this helps.
