I was wondering how difficult (and pricey) it would be to set up an online store that:
-Is secure
-Links into my actual stores inventory
*(I'd need to set up an inventory system too)
-Easy to use, easy enough to set up
I've got some idea of how to make webpages but have NO expertise in coding/HTML and I wouldn't want to put my business or customers at risk of being hacked, or having inconsistent sales.
thanks for your input
Setting up an online store?
Its not that hard....
What you need is a page....and your buy system which would consist of some sort of database....and a payment system (paypal maybe) to process payments...
it is possible to do this yourself if you are a programmer but if not you may have to hire one or maybe by prewritten code to do those functions...
Reply:http://www.projectivedesigns.com/page/e-... These people helped me out when I wanted an online store. Pretty affordable, try giving them a email.
Reply:Have you checked out Yahoo Stores? That might be a good way to start.
Reply:check out zencart.
There is no simple/easy way to do this. Of course, those terms are relative but based on your admission of the lack of HTML skill, it will take time to set up something like this.

Reply:Well, if you want to run it yourself on your own computer (or a host), you might want to look at OSCommerce. It's free but not all that easy to customize unless you have some good experience.
There are webhosting sites that provide OSCommerce storefronts that might do the triick for you. Just google oscommerce and you'll be returned with alot of info.
You could always open an eBay store. I've had one in the past and it's extremely easy and not all that expensive. They have different levels of prices depending on the amount of inventory.
Amazon also has storefronts.
Google using ecommerce as your search criteria for a whole host of options.
Good luck and happy selling!
